FEEDING THE MOST VULNERABLE WITH YOUR KAFFARAH
Kaffarah can be paid or offered to compensate for other missteps (consult with your local imam or sheikh) but is namely offered for deliberately breaking or missing fasts during the month of Ramadan.
Kaffarah is paid by individuals who have deliberately a deliberately chosen not to fulfill their religious obligation of fasting in Ramadan.
In cases of deliberately breaking or missing a fast, there are three possible things a Muslim can do to pay Kaffarah. These are:
+ Free a Muslim locked in the bonds of slavery
+ Fast for two consecutive months
+ Click Here to pay your Fidya
How much do you need to pay?
For every broken fast, one has to pay the value of half a saa for 60 people. In Australia, this equates to two meals for one person or one meal for two people which would cost $10 per day, per person of every missed fast. $600 covers one missed fast during the month of Ramadan.
Please consult your local Sheikh or Imam if you’re unsure. Amount may vary depending on country of origin.
HOW WILL WE USE YOUR KAFFARAH?
The donations received through Fidya and Kaffarah have always traditionally been used to feed the hungry and the poor, and we honour this Islamic custom at Penny Appeal Australia.
All Fidya and Kaffarah donations are channelled exclusively to our food aid program, Feed Our World, that looks at providing immediate relief and long term sustainability projects and helps build food security in impoverished communities.
Your Fidya can also be used to provide immediate food relief in response to emergencies in disaster and conflict zones,
